  1. 1

    Fulfill Your Education Requirements.

    Obtain a Master of Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE approved or accredited college or university.

    Apply for the Clinical Level Exam.

    Complete the State Application to become a Licensed Social Worker.

    Apply for exam preapproval.

    Make sure to review your completed application. Missing dates and signatures are the most common reasons applications are delayed. And don’t forget to include the check!

    Once you are cleared, register for the LCSW Exam with the ASWB.

    Prepare for the Clinical Level Exam.

    Pick an exam date and make your test appointment at Pearson VUE.

    Use our complete study system for the ASWB LCSW Exam. We cover the essential topics and supply the thinking strategies you’ll need to figure out the right answer. We provide an organized, step-by-step approach so you won’t waste your time trying to figure out what to study. Coaches who recently passed the exam are available to answer any questions while you prepare. Our materials are developed by social workers who passed the social work licensing exam with over 90% correct. We recommend studying 4-8 weeks with our program.

    Pass the Clinical Level Exam and obtain your LSW.

    Congratulations! Now you can start earning your hours for the LISW.

    Complete your LISW Requirements.

    Two full years and 3,000 hrs of experience mean at least 24 months with a minimum of 1,500 hour per year. If you have more than 1,500 hours per 12 month period, the excess cannot be carried over to the next 12 month period. If you are getting your experience part-time, the second year cannot begin until you have reached the 1,500 hour minimum.

    Supervision should average one hour of individual or group supervision for every 20 hrs of experience with a minimum of 150 hrs of supervision for the 3,000 hours of supervised social work practice. Supervision shall be provided by an LISW-S.

    Apply for your LISW.

    Complete the State Application.
